The Summer Drinks Everyone Asked Me About at the Sip & Shop

I know you’re trying to create a home that feels nourishing and welcoming without spending all day in the kitchen.
That’s why so many conversations at the Sip & Shop last week ended up around these simple homemade drinks…
And I know you, just making it there took effort.
Rearranging schedules, squeezing it in after work, driving across town anyway because you wanted a slower evening and something good to pour into your family.
I don’t take that lightly.
One thing I heard over and over again from you last week was this:
You’re trying to create a home that feels nourishing.
Not complicated. Not perfect. Just intentional.
That’s why I loved that you stopped and asked about the basil tea and hibiscus lemonade.
They’re simple, refreshing, made with real ingredients, and feel so special without requiring much effort at all.
Those are my favorite kinds of recipes 🥰
So here they are, written down for you like I promised.
Basil Tea
Ingredients
1/2 cup dried basil
(or 1 cup fresh basil)
2 cups water
1/2 cup honey
(or 1 cup sugar)
Instructions
Bring the water to a gentle simmer.
Add the basil and steep for 10–15 minutes.
Strain out the basil leaves.
Stir in your sweetener until dissolved.
Serve warm or pour over ice for a refreshing summer drink.
This one feels soft and calming, especially if you use Tulsi basil.
A little sweet, a little herbal, and perfect for sitting on the porch at the end of the day- and my favorite part is that there’s no caffeine!
Hibiscus Lemonade
Ingredients
1/2 cup dried hibiscus
2 cups water
1/2 cup honey
(or 1 cup sugar)
1 cup lemon juice
Instructions
Bring the water to a gentle simmer.
Add the hibiscus and steep for 10–15 minutes.
Strain the flowers out.
Stir in your sweetener until dissolved.
Add the lemon juice and stir well.
Serve over plenty of ice.
This one is bright and tart and beautiful on a hot afternoon. It tastes like summer gatherings and kids running barefoot through the yard.
Sometimes hospitality gets overcomplicated online.
We don’t need fancy ingredients, matching glasses, or elaborate spreads.
Most of the moments we actually remember happen around simple things made with care.
A pitcher of something cold.
A conversation in the kitchen.
People feeling welcomed and fed.
That’s the kind of home I know you’re trying to build, and it’s one I care deeply about too.
Thank you again for coming to the Sip & Shop. It meant so much to me to spend that evening with you!
If you make either of these recipes, I’d love to hear which one becomes your favorite.

P.S.- if you need the basil or hibiscus, let me know- I’ve got a little extra left over 😘
